A Moment of Eden

Leaves were falling about with a dramatic display
    As squirrels skipped along branches
On their way to a special feast day

Held only once a year, at the end of harvest
    As raccoons carried pumpkins overhead
Pilfered from the town's local markets

To celebrate a moment of thanks that all share
As bears comb the table for honey
Brought by bees politely humming a prayer

A dedication to Life and all that she provides
As bluebirds swoop down from high
Between colorful tumbling leaves being their guides

A moment to bond amongst enemy and friend
    As fawns congregate with foxes
Thankful that each other could attend

Nestled in a peaceful grove upon the Earth
As wolves howled a song to the stars
Grateful for the miracle that is birth
